Barry and Michael regularly teamed up for gigs big and small and in 1985 Barry was asked to help raise money for an Irish Homeless project in London. Michael joined him and with  a star studded cast and raised enough money to buy a property which is still in use.

 

Out of this event evolved the Irish Variety Show which toured for many years around the UK playing halls and theatres big and small bringing Irish Variety to the many millions of Irish living away from home.

 

Emigration was a big issue at that time with a large percentage of the Irish population forced to seek employment abroad

 

It was only natural that the Show would in time move out of the UK and follow the Irish to where they had settled around the world. Hence the Show toured many times in Australia and New Zealand and twice a year in the Spring and in the Fall they come and entertain in the USA.

 

The Irish are by nature a wandering race and you will find them settled all over the globe so Barry and the Irish Variety Show have visited them in such exotic places as Sri Lanka, Dubai,  Bahrain  Kuwait, Fiji as well as well known Irish watering holes  in Western and Eastern Europe.

 

All the comedy is clean, gentle Irish humour about Irish life, the Clergy, Nuns and all the little things that make the Irish what they are. It is said that in the morning, when Barry comes down stairs and goes into the kitchen, when he opens the fridge door and the light comes his immediately starts his routine.

 

Comedy is his way of life and you will be enthralled by the stories and  yarns that he tells. Always the family man, you can bring your niece or grandmother to a show  and neither will be offended.
